Departmental Profile

The Department of Kashmiri was established in Jan 2017.The Department is committed to promoting and preserving the rich linguistic and literary heritage of the Kashmiri language. Established as an integral part of the institution, the department offers undergraduate courses under NEP 2020 that focus on Kashmiri language, literature, poetry, and cultural studies. It aims to enhance students’ understanding of their native language while fostering a deep appreciation for the region’s literary traditions. The department follows a comprehensive curriculum that covers classical and modern Kashmiri literature, ensuring that students develop a strong linguistic and analytical foundation.

Beyond academics, the department actively engages students in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities to encourage their interest in Kashmiri language and culture. It regularly organizes seminars, literary discussions, and cultural events where students actively participate in different Programs.

The Department of Kashmiri also collaborates with other academic institutions and cultural organizations to promote the language at a broader level. By hosting workshops, inviting guest speakers, and engaging with local poets and writers, the department creates a vibrant academic environment.
