Brief Profile

The Department was established in the year 2022 and is dedicated to the study, preservation, and promotion of Persian language, literature, and culture. With a rich academic legacy, we offer major as well as minor programs that explore classical and contemporary Persian texts, linguistics, history, and regional influences.

Key Focus Areas

Language & Literature:Teaching Persian at all proficiency levels, from foundational grammar to advanced literary analysis.

Cultural Studies: Examining different contributions to art, philosophy, and global heritage.

Community Engagement:Hosting events, poetry recitals, and collaborations with cultural institutions to celebrate Persian traditions.

The department serves as a bridge between the past and present, fostering global appreciation for Persian civilization.

Limitations and Challenges

Low Enrolment: Declining student interest in Persian studies compared to more “practical” language programs

Curriculum Challenges: Overemphasis on Classical Texts: Neglecting modern Persian language, media, or regional variations (e.g., Tajik, Afghan Dari).
